ASSESSMENT

In this session assessment is carried out by cecking that students follow the isntructions given by the teacher.

In addition to that students will be asked to fill in a worksheet (see below) with which they are supposed to reflect on their knowledge and assess the lesson.

SOCIAL ORGANIZATION

In this session, students play individually, however they belong to a group and they have to work cooperatibely at some points.

SESSION 5:  CAPTURE THE FLAG

Step by step:

Warm up:

  • Students will do a language warm up remembering some vocabulary related to motor handicaps and talking about the game (which they already know and was introduced on the previous lesson) of capturing the flag.

Presentation:

  • Hand in the scaffolding materials and read them out loud making sure everyone understands the game and the vocabulary that will be used. In addition to that, four groups are made to, later on, play the game.

Practice:

  • The teacher  will hold the flag, standing in the middle of the field

  • The rest of the students will be placed evenly on both sides of the track.

  • Each student will be assigned a number.

  • The teacher will shout out loud a number and an instruction and the students with such number have to catch the flag.

  • Once one of the students has caught the flag, he/she has to run back towards his/her team trying not to be caught by the other player.

  • To increase difficulty the teacher can use two flags and have another teacher or even a student standing opposite to his/her. This way, there will be 4 students running at the same time.

Review:

  • Ask students for difficulties and reflections. This can be held in the form of a brief group discussion.

Closing:

  • Students will fill in a worksheet to collect all that is taught on that session. Activities will be simple and suitable to be held in a few minutes at the gym. They will have to recall on what has been learnt.
