Step by step:

Warm up:

  • Getting familiar with the material: the material will consist on a ball which has a bell inside to make it noisy. Apart from that, goal nets are needed for the activity.

  • Guess the activity: children will be ask to deduce the activity that will be carried out. With this deduction students can put into practice their reflective competence, and as teacher we can see if they have got the main contents of the unit.

Presentation:

  • The teacher will explain that the session is a preparation to learn about the paralympic game called Goalball. A flashcard with vocabulary will be given.

Practice:

  • So as to start knowing the material and the characteristics of the game, the students will do some initiating activities.

  • They will sit making a circle with their legs open. While blindfolded they will pass the ball and catch it if they hear it coming.

  • Later they will move a bit further from each other so as to make the activity more difficult.

  • Finally they will practice shooting and stopping the ball, first seeing and then blindfolded.

Closing:

  • Students will fill in a worksheet to collect all that is taught on that session. Activities will be simple and suitable to be held in a few minutes at the gym. They will have to recall on what has been learnt.
